Mayfield, KY, and so many other areas. Cloud tops on this storm

美国中西部近日发生50起龙卷风，许多地区几乎被夷为平地，酿成至少88死的严重灾情。肯塔基州路易维尔市（Louisville）国家气象局14日就在推特公布一段由飞行员在4.5万英呎（约1.3万公尺）高空拍下的影片，捕捉到了引发龙卷风的”巨无霸级”风暴云的全貌，预估云顶高度达4.7万英呎。

根据《每日邮报》报导，这段影片是由一名飞行员10日经过田纳西州曼非斯（Memphis）上空时所拍下，可见庞大的风暴云层笼罩着阿肯色州、肯塔基州的部分地区，频频发生的闪电照亮了令人震慑的规模，此次风暴云顶高达4.7万英呎（约1.4万公尺），而且拍摄当时还在继续升高。
美国气象学会（AMS）认证气象播报员James
Spann也在推特表示，长时间持续的”超大胞”（Supercell）雷暴可能导致扩及200多英里的龙卷风。贴文同时附上了2张在肯塔基州3.5万英呎的空拍照，可看出高耸的云层覆盖在夜晚都市灯火的上空，范围相当庞大。

Some of the worst
destruction from the Kentucky tornado was centered in Mayfield, a
town of nearly 10,000 people. At least 110 people were huddled
inside a candle factory in the area when a tornado ripped through.
