昨天（24）德州西南部洛伯小学（Robb Elementary
School）惊传枪击事件，年仅18岁枪手弃车后带着手枪进入校园，从一间教室走到另一间，朝21名师生大开杀戒，其中一名罹难者还是多次入选“年度教师”的厄玛·加西亚（Irma
Garcia）。据了解，表订再过2天就要迎来暑假，为本学期划下句点，遗憾却造成孩童内心挥之不去的阴影。
根据《每日邮报》(Daily Mail Online)报导，案发地点位于德州人口第二大城圣安东尼奥市（San
Antonio）以西约130公里，酿成21死，包括19名孩童与2名师长，堪称是近十年来最致命的校园枪击事件。报导指出，洛伯小学再过2天就要迎接学生期待已久的暑假，特别的是，学校每天都会设计一个主题，昨天礼拜二则是“无拘无束”（footloose
and fancy），所有小朋友都穿着相当有特色的鞋子来上学。
其中，不幸殉职的40多岁教师厄玛·加西亚（Irma
Garcia），据悉正当枪手对着教室裡的孩子开火时，她牺牲自己英勇向前挡住子弹才因此丧命。她的家人悲恸表示，“厄玛牺牲自己保护了孩子，虽然她没有成功，但英雄之姿却永远留存我们心中，希望大家为她祈祷。”
厄玛从事教职生涯已长达23年，一直以来深受许多人的爱戴，本身也是一名4个孩子的母亲，对于孩子特别有一套，还曾于2018-2019年两度入围“年度教师选拔”。

此外，同样命丧此次枪击案的另一名43岁教师伊娃·米雷莱斯（Eva
Mireles），曾接过双语、特教两项领域培训，对于教学有极大的热诚与想法，也是位人人尊敬的优秀老师。伊娃的表妹说道，“我的心已经碎成成千上万的瓦砾，如此美丽的灵魂，这天对我们所有人来说都是世界末日…”
