美国特勤局（US Secret Service）1月15日公布，在总统当选人拜登（Joe
Biden）20日举行就职典礼前、于首都华盛顿设军事化的「红区」及「绿区」，预料措施持续至21日。俄媒16日称，有网民将华盛顿「绿区」设防情况与伊拉克巴格达（Baghdad）的绿区比较。
伊拉克的「绿区」位于巴格达市中心，是伊拉克政府机构以及美国和英国等驻伊大使馆所在地。针对「绿区」的类似袭击事件时有发生。
今日俄罗斯（RT）指，红及绿区包括白宫、林肯纪念堂、国家广场及国会附近的地区。绿区街道只准居民及商户通过，红区只准获授权车辆进入。逾2万名持武器的国民警卫军会在附近驻守。
逾2万荷枪实弹的国民警卫队员在派驻该区，而且当地已架设混凝土路障、附有尖利铁丝网的金属围栏，还有军用悍马（Humvee）在巡逻。
在Twitter上自称经常到处採访的记者特雷西（Michael
Tracey）称，特勤局很诚实，称首都中最严密设防的部分为「绿区」，可能到20日，最讽刺就是说它是「迷你巴格达」了。
