美国南加州死谷16日测得摄氏54.4度高温，创下1913年以来全球最高温纪录。
美国国家气象局表示，南加州沙漠地带死谷火炉溪的气象观测站测得气温飙高至摄氏54.4度，创下逾百年来全球最高温。
根据路透社报导，负责这座自动气象观测站的国家气象局（National Weather Service）拉斯维加斯（Las
Vegas）气象站表示：「若获得确认，这将是1913年7月以来获官方认证的最高温。」
气象站强调昨天下午测得的这项高温数据是初步观测结果，因为有重大意义，尚须经过正式审查。
美国国家气象局的这座自动观测站位于接近内华达州州界的火炉溪（Furnace
Creek）游客中心旁，昨天下午3时41分测得这个极端高温。
根据世界气象组织（WMO），1913年7月10日，死谷（Death Valley）的绿地牧场（Greenland
Rench）曾测得摄氏56.7度的历来最高温，目前仍是地表最高温纪录。
