综合外媒报导，佛斯特出生于1997年1月，现年25岁，是一名非裔古巴人，他表示，“今晚创造了历史，我们为佛罗里达人、Z世代以及所有相信我们的人创造了历史”。
在选举前，佛斯特曾领导美国境内的反枪枝暴力组织，枪枝管制仍是年轻选民关注的首要问题之一。除了关注枪枝暴力的问题外，他还支持全民健保以及绿色新政等政策。
佛斯特是一位没有政治经历的候选人，平时以驾驶UBER维生，他在8月赢得了民主党的初选，并在期中选举顺利当选。
