剧情简介：Autumn 1977. Dek Springfield is an 18-year-old misfit, who 5 years earli was plucked from his home in the industrial outskirts of Leeds to attend Public School on a scholarship. He has just returned home at the end of his studies to await his Oxbridge results that he’s hoping will result in his pmanent escape. Life at home is awkward for the brainy lad and embarrassing for his working family who can’t relate: his feckless dad, no-nonsense mum and two old broths, one a football hopeful and the oth a distinctly dodgy acquir of flash consum goods.
Dek kills time by walking a no hope greyhound, Slapp, and loving out-of-his league Chrissie from afar. But und Dek’s loving care Slapp gets fast – so fast she’s stolen for h racing potential. Dek despairs at being completely alone once more but Chrissie gets the local community to keep watch. Slapp eventually escapes from h furious captors at an illegal flapp track. Exhausted, she somehow finds h way back and is reunited with Dek who tries to nurse h back to health his bedroom without his family finding out.
Dek, Chrissie and Slapp disguise themselves to avoid the dognapps and try their luck at racing h at a prop dog track. The dognapps and all the Springfields convge on the stadium for the exciting climax.
